Spartacus: Vengeance - Manu Bennett as Crixus

Manu Bennett portrays Crixus in the STARZ Original series
“Spartacus: Vengeance.”

Gracing the covers of Muscle and Fitness and Men’s Health (UK),
Manu has brains, brawn and rugged good looks, in addition to acting capabilities – qualities that are not going unnoticed these days.

Of Maori descent and born in Auckland, New Zealand, to a famous singer and a fashion model, Bennett’s family relocated to Australia soon after his birth. During high school, Bennett played representative rugby and studied classical ballet and piano before attending the University of New South Wales to study Drama.

Previous television credits include starring roles in such successful New Zealand productions as “Shortland Street,” “Street Legal,” “Mataku,” “Creature Quest,” and “Going Straight.” Earlier he starred as Marc Antony opposite his “Spartacus” co-star Lucy Lawless in Tapert and Raimi's hit series “Xena: Warrior Princess.”

His first feature film role was opposite Anthony La Paglia in the multiple-award-winning Lantana. Other feature film credits include major supporting roles in 20th Century Fox’s The Marine, opposite Robert Patrick; Sony’s 30 Days of Night, opposite Josh Hartnett (from “Spartacus” executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures); the Japanese film Tomoko, opposite award-winning Japanese actress Rumiko Koyanagi; a lead role in Lionsgate’s The Condemned, alongside Vinnie Jones and Stone Cold Steve Austin; as well as the title role in Sinbad and the Minotaur.
